Kattiyam
The glory
of Lord Narasimhar's beauty is enshrined in a series of songs
that are sung on special occasions. They are a set of verses
that describe the Lord's body, His grace, His
powers and His protective nature. Every Friday and
on the days of ascent of the Lord's star (Swathi) a sacred
ceremony is performed at the Big Hill Temple. After the ceremony,
the verses are sung by the Dhoddacharya.
Likewise on
every Sunday a sacred ceremony is performed for Anjaneyar
at the Small Hill.
The three
Alwars of the 10th century have sung praises of the Lord Yoga
Narasimhar, in separate instances. These songs are also called
pasurams, and they describe the infinite strength and grace
of the Lord.
Every morning
the Lord is awaked by a Suprabhatam, songs that describe His
glory.
